Tuesday Nights

Jonathan Loving Life

Every Tuesday night we go to Music Class with Jonathan. Thanks to Melanie for the wonderful gift, Jonathan is developing so quickly. He loves his class and he loves the girls in the class too ;). He adores Mrs. Janice. He stares at her more than us. He is grabbing the instruments now and starting to shake them. He loves the slide too. Don't worry, we hold him the whole time. It's just an amazing bonding time for Travis and I with our son. Here are some pictures I took yesterday while we were in the class.

Thank Goodness for Great Friends and Family

As I said before, great friends and family flew in for Jonathan's baptism weekend. They are all so wonderful to us and we feel so blessed. Natalia and I have been friends since we were babies, Liz and I since 5th grade, Justin and I since freshman year in high school, and Megan and I since my freshman year in college. They are all the best to have flown in along with Titi Laly, Junior, Lily and her boyfriend Adiel. Here are some pictures from our night out.

Jonathan's Baptism Part Two

It's amazing how lucky we are to be loved by our family and friends. So many of our family and friends showed up for the baptism. Jonathan looked perfect. He wore a Christening Gown that was passed down in the family and he looked precious. I couldn't have asked for something more special. We took lots of pictures and the Godparents were perfect. Our son is so lucky to have two wonderful people in his life.

It is amazing to me, how many people offered to help and did help us make this day so special for Jonathan (even though he won't remember). My parents made ham, sangria, picked up yummy bread basket rolls and chocolate mousse. Debbie and Phil bought all the plates, napkins, plasticware, cups, waters, and fruit for the fruit tray. Ashley made delicious broccoli casseroles. Matilde made an awesome chicken casserole that Travis wants me to start making now. Melanie made an incredible fruit dip. We made Roast, Sweet Potatoes Au Gratin, Macaroni and Cheese Casserole, a Corn, Tomato, and Mozzeraella Cheese Salad, a made from Scratch cake with Meringue icing. We were all so busy and everyone pitching in made for an amazing meal and fun times together. Jacob took pictures at the Church and at my house that I'm so excited about.

Thank you everyone for making this day such a special and memorable day. Love you all!

Jonathan's Baptism Weekend

On Thursday, we went to Atlanta to pick up Natalia. She's Jonathan's Godmother who flew in from Puerto Rico. We hung out all day and we had a great time together. Jonathan loved her and you could tell she loved him. Thursday night, we went out to dinner at Alleia. Well, while we were sitting there we kept smelling the most foul smell. I, at one point, had to get up. I was going to throw up, I swear. I went to the hostess and told her it was horrible. Our waiter then came up and told us that it was a sewer problem. Nice, huh? You pay so much for a nice dinner and yet the smell was awful.

Friday was CRAZY! We went to the grocery stores. When I say stores, I mean stores. We had to go to three grocery stores just to find the right mozzarella for the salad we were making and for all the ingredients. We ran around like crazy. When we got back, Natalia and I went to town on preparing everything we could for Saturday. As I was making the sweet potatoes au gratin, I sliced my pinkie on the mandolin. I couldn't stop bleeding. It was nasty. Natalia was like, "Gross, you left the chunk of your pinkie on the counter." Talk about NASTY. My dad had to take me to his office for what he thought needed stitches, but he was able to stop it with some gunk at his office. From there, we picked up Titi Laly at Groome's while the rest of her family was in a rented car driving in. Travis picked Justin (the Godfather) up.

Hispanic families are loud, but mine is crazy loud. LOL! We were all telling stories and crazy inappropriate jokes. We had the best time and we laughed so hard. After everyone left my house, I started making the cake for the baptism. I made the batter (from scratch) and put the cake in the oven. When the timer went off, I opened it and it had overflowed everywhere. Travis had to clean the oven and I had to dump the cake out. I decided to go to bed and start in the morning.

Saturday morning was nuts. We woke up at 7:00 a.m. I started making the cake while Travis worked on the Roast. Once I finished the cake, I helped with the roast. I let the cakes cool, while my mom got there to make the Meringue for the cake and Natalia and I made the homemade fudge sauce. I took a shower and when I was done, I started decorating the cake. It was time for me to finish getting ready, so my mom told me to get to it. I was having a breakdown as is and then it just got worse. I went to put the dress on that I had purchased for the baptism. I put my makeup on and when it was time to put the dress on, I put it on. I stuck my hand in the pockets because they were all bunched up inside and pulled forward a bit to poof the dress out. Well, when I did that, the dress tore down the seams on both sides. I had a major meltdown. I cried, yelled, said bad words, you name it I did it. At that point it was 11:00 a.m. and the baptism started at 11:30. I had to get in the car with my mom and take off and go to Ann Taylor Loft. Thank you Mom for being a law abiding citizens and going the speed limit, but STEP ON IT! This was not the time to be driving like Miss Daisy. We get there and I was able to try on a few dresses, find one, find jewlery, and be at the church by 11:35. It was the craziest morning. I was so stressed out. Natalia finished decorating the cake and everything was great, thank goodness. We had about 50 people there(from different countries and states) for it and it meant so much to us that Jonathan and our family are so loved.

Our friend Jacob, took pictures, so once they are ready I'll add his wonderful pictures on the event. It was wonderful! We had a great time that night with all our friends.

Happy Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day and Travis' 1st Father's Day. He has blown me away with what an incredible father he truly is. He adores his son and for that I adore him more. He's the first one to get up with him on the weekends, so I can sleep a little later. He changes diapers, feeds him, plays, and sings to him. It's incredible. Not many fathers I know do all those things and help out as much as he does. Jonathan is a very lucky little boy and I'm very lucky to have such a great husband. Happy Father's Day to Travis.

As for my dad, we spent time with him yesterday as well. I am so lucky to have such an amazing dad. He is the strongest, most genuine, and most loving person I know. Because of him, I am the person I am today. I try to be a better person each and every day and that determination stems from all the values he's instilled upon me. I don't know many daughters that love to spend time with their parents as much as I do. In good times and bad, we always have a great time together. Just the best feeling ever. Happy Father's Day to the best dad ever!

Bath Time

Bath Time at our house is the best! Jonathan is enjoying his baths more and more each day. You never know what you'll get these days with him. We try to get him in there after he's used the bathroom, but he sometimes has to go some more. We have to dodge getting peed on all the time. It's quite comical and it's definitely an adventure.

The worst was the other night. He had a dirty diaper, so I changed it, got him undressed, and in his little tub. Well, I guess he was so relaxed that he pooped in the tub. NASTY!!!!!! Travis had to grab him, I had to empty out the tub and Clorox everything, wipe it down, fill the tub up again, and finally try giving him a bath again. I'm sure when we were running around like crazy Jonathan must have been thinking, "What in the world are these two doing?"

All in all bath time is our time to spend with him doing something semi-fun. Afterwards, we get to cuddle with him a little before we put him to bed. There is nothing better than the moments when we cuddle with him. That's the best feeling ever.

First Week Back

Okay, so I know I was very negative about having to work in Chatsworth. Wednesday, on my way to work, I decided to be a little more open to the idea and not go in with a negative attitude. I get to my old building to pick up my stuff and I see all the people I loved to work with. This made it a reality to know that now I'll be in a new place with no support system. It was a terrible feeling. I go to HR and get set-up to start working in my new position. I am told that the group is either out of town or in an analysis regression class. Guess where I'm told to report to? Analysis regression is correct. I don't know didly squat about Regression. Shoot me right now please! I really left my baby to be put in this which I know nothing about? Really! Come on give me a break.

Thursday I had a doctor's appointment, got out, and sent them a message to see where to go. Well, I was told not to come in. THANK GOD, my prayers were answered! Just kidding. I really wanted to see what in the world my new position entailed.

Today, I come in and kind of hear what I'll be doing, but that I can't be shown any of this until Monday. Fun stuff! Then I hear how all the employees hate it here and don't enjoy it at all. Not what I wanted to hear at all. This is just not the ideal situation. I want to be where I was where I was eager to learn and tackle new things, not here and not like this.

Hey, at least I have a job and I am thankful for that.

Music Class

Thanks to Melanie, Jonathan got an incredible gift. We are taking Jonathan to Kinder Music. He loves it. It's the cutest thing in the world to see all these babies so alert and so excited about music. Jonathan is the youngest in the class and the only boy thus far. He's such a flirt already. Gotta love that! He smiles and laughs at all the little girls.

Misa and Charley started going last week with Arianna. She was so excited. She was crawling around everywhere, smiling, and listening so intently to all of us singing. I can't wait until Jonathan becomes more mobile and more excited. This class is so great for us to go and do this as a family. Crazy how a baby changes our activities. We are loving every minute of it. I'll be sure to take pictures next week and post them.

Life Is Not Fair

So I've been really down the last few days. It has become so real that in just a few days I'll be leaving my baby behind and heading back to work. I am so sad, because I love being with him and being there to witness all of his firsts! It makes me cry to think that I'll miss too much and it's just not fair that mothers are made to make sacrifices like this. I mean we carry them for 9 months, always feel them move, protect them for 9 months, we give birth to them, and then we are expected to go back to work. It just stinks and it's not fair!

Then to top it off, work was going great. Love my boss, love the people I work with, and then 2 days before I went on Maternity Leave I was told I have to be in Chatsworth, GA. Talk about torturing a brand new mom. It's already hard enough that I have to go back to work, but to know that I'll spend almost 2 hours in the car every single day is the worst thing ever! Those are 2 hours that I could be spending with the most precious baby ever, but instead I'll be in a terrible place that has NOTHING there. Yes, I am very thankful that I have a job in these tough economic times, but I always get the crap end of the deal. This sucks!
